Changes to Sandringham/Dominion Rd and North Shore buses

28 January 2011

Changes to make buses easier to use along Sandringham/Dominion Rd, on the North Shore and to Waikowhai begin from Sunday.

Bus passengers should check customer information at stops and on www.maxx.co.nz before travelling as their bus number may have changed.

The changes are part of ongoing improvements to make buses easier to understand, remember and use.

Passengers are being given information on the changes, including signs and Maxx ambassadors at bus stops, letterbox drops and flyers on buses.

Major changes include:

More services will travel to and from Blockhouse Bay and New Lynn.

Sandringham Rd – If you travelled on the 248, you will need to look for the 249. The bus will display if it terminates at Blockhouse Bay or New Lynn. The 241 will be replaced by the 243.

Dominion Rd – If you travelled on the 255 you will need to look for the 258 bus, it will display if it terminates at May Rd or Blockhouse Bay.

Waikowhai - A new 299 bus will replace routes 287, 288, 297 and 298. The route has been modified to travel along Hillsborough Rd. Additional school buses have also been added to the route, with the 099 will runing to/from Mountain Rd for Auckland Grammar and St Peters College.

Birkenhead - 961 Chatswood to Birkenhead discontinued - passengers will need to catch the 971 to Highbury and transfer. Five return services between Highbury and Northcote Pt added to the 960 timetable. The 957 will be extended to Birkenhead Wharf to connect with the Birkenhead ferry service (as replacement for the Highbury to Birkenhead 960 route).

Torbay via Albany Station - Route 881 (busway to Newmarket via Auckland Hospital) will have additional peak services. Also, the times on the following services from Newmarket have been adjusted. The 4.40pm, 5.10pm and 5.40pm services will depart at 4.30pm 5pm and 5.30pm.

Full details on the changes are available at www.maxx.co.nz.
