Walking and cycling improvements

Improving walking and cycling facilities to make them safer and more attractive to use is one of the main aims of AMETI.

If you want to see recommended cycle routes during construction, check out this map.  Click on the image for a larger version.

When Panmure Phase 1 and Panmure to Pakuranga Phase 2 are complete there will be significant improvements with 7km of new cycle paths and 6km of new footpaths.

The map below shows the new walking and cycling networks.

A  New shared use off road path along side the new AMETI link road.

B  Footbridge replacement William Harvey Place – Ireland Road.

C  Widened footpaths on Ellerslie Panmure Highway and Mountain Road.

D  Improved access and cycle parking at Panmure Station.

E  Cycle lanes along new AMETI link road.

F  Cycle lanes on Ellerslie Panmure Highway connecting into Queens Road.

G  Cycle parking/storage at Panmure station.

H Shared path across widened Panmure Bridge.

Along Pakuranga Road and Ti Rakau Drive, the proposal is to provide cycle lanes within the road corridor with some form of separation from traffic wherever possible, as well as wider footpaths.
