New Shared Path at New Lynn
Last reviewed: 5/03/2012 3:07 p.m.

As part of the Regional Cycling Network in the Auckland Region, Auckland Transport is planning to develop a new shared pedestrian and cycle path.

The proposed construction is on Rankin Ave from Ambrico Place to Seabrook Ave (map, PDF 621KB).

The project will result in a shared path which provides access for pedestrians and cyclists and is part of a larger initiative by Auckland Transport to upgrade the cycle network in the city. When completed, the new path will link up with the existing cycle lane on Clark Street, New Lynn.

The proposed option will provide off-road cycle lanes along the specified area on Rankin and Margan Ave. The shared path will be three metres wide and will run adjacent to the kerb.

Auckland Transport is also proposing to upgrade the existing Margan Ave pedestrian crossing near the roundabout and change the existing service road along Rankin Ave to a one-way system. This will make the road safer and help improve traffic flow.

Consultation on the project has now closed and Auckland Transport is considering responses.
