Taking your Bike on the Ferry

Bicycles can be carried on most ferry services for free. The West Harbour Ferry, Harbour Cruise, Rangitoto Island and Tiri Tiri Matangi Island ferries are the exceptions.

Taking your Bike on the Train

On trains, a bicycle ticket must be purchased for each trip, at a cost of $1. Carrying bicycles on board trains is dependent on space and at the discretion of onboard staff. Avoid travelling with bicycles at peak times, as space will be limited. Please contact MAXX on 09 366 6400 or 0800 10 30 80 if you're within the Auckland area but outside the Auckland free calling area - e.g. Hibiscus Coast, Pukekohe/Waiuku.

Taking your Bike on the Bus

Bicycles cannot be taken on any bus services (unless it’s a folding bike).

Storing your Bike or Bike Gear at Train/Bus Stations

Some public transport centres and large train stations have bike and cycle gear lockers that can be leased for storing your gear while you catch public transport. This page has more information about how to lease a bike locker and where they are located.
