Drink Driving
Last reviewed: 30/04/2011 11:00 p.m.

Alcohol related accidents are a significant road safety issue both nationally and in the Auckland Region.

Younger male drivers (15 to 24 years) are the most common age group found to be at fault in drink driving accidents with most accidents occurring due to loss of control on bends and at night.

At Auckland Transport, we work closely with the community and in partnership with a number of organisations and agencies to reduce drink driving on our roads.

Drink Drive Programme

Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD)

SADD is a peer education programme that has been in New Zealand for almost 20 years. The primary objective of SADD is to reduce the harm caused on our roads by drink drivers. The peer education programme is run in secondary schools by students, independently of the school curriculum. The organisation is open to any student and SADD encourages participation from across the year levels.

For more information about SADD, visit www.sadd.org.nz or contact us.
