The rules, under which traffic operates on our roads, are made by the Minister of Transport and administered by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). Fees, charges, offences and penalties relating to transport rules are prescribed by regulations made by the Governor General.
Road rules are reviewed and developed annually and have implications for all road users, including car drivers, motorcyclists, taxi drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
We urge all road users to familiarise themselves with these new rules so that we can all do our part to help to keep our roads safe.
For more information on road rules, see the external links to the right of this page.
