Pearce Street and Upper Municipal Place, Onehunga 

7 March 2013 

From Monday 11 March 2013 Nayler Contractors Ltd and Downer NZ will commence safety improvement works on Pearce Street, followed by an upgrade to public transport facilities on Upper Municipal Place.  

The works are expected to take approximately 10 weeks, however construction is weather dependent, therefore could take longer.

Important points to note:

  • Phase one of the project will address safety issues on Pearce Street. At times during this phase, access from Onehunga Mall onto Pearce Street will be closed to vehicles. Customers wishing to access the YMCA Jordan Recreation Centre car park should travel via Upper Municipal Place

  • Phase two will commence in early April. This phase is expected to take four to six weeks to complete, during which time Upper Municipal Place will be closed to vehicles

  • Pedestrian access will be managed through the works site and a Site Traffic Management Supervisor will be on site at all times to manage traffic and ensure pedestrian safety

  • Bus stops will be relocated from Upper Municipal Place onto Lower Municipal Place and Church Street. To safely accommodate the stops, Lower Municipal Place will be open to southbound traffic only. Details of the changes will be publicised in advance locally and online at at.co.nz

 

Great North Road, New Lynn

28 March 2013  

From 2 April 2013 Fulton Hogan, will be commencing road improvements, in three stages on Great North Road, New Lynn between Memorial Drive and Veronica Street. The entire project is expected to take about 8 weeks to complete. This work is weather dependant, therefore this timeframe is only an indication.
 

  • Stage 1 - Footpath, kerb and channel and drainage improvements is due to start on 2 April 2013, with the the expected completion date of
    19 April 2013
     
  • Stage 2 - Carriageway pavement treatment - dates TBA
  • Stage 3 - Final road surfacing - dates TBA

Important points to note

  • Stage 1 works will be carried out between the hours of 8am and 4pm. At times there will be some noise and some vibration associated with these works
  • Temporary traffic control will be in place and the speed limit will be reduced
  • To maintain vehicle access, temporary ramps will be constructed as required. Staff from Fulton Hogan will also notify residents and businesses directly if vehicle access to their properties will be affected. If residents or businesses need assistance at any time they are requested to approach one of the onsite staff
  • On-street parking will be maintained as much as possible, but parking spaces maybe restricted for safety reasons as required
